Authorities urging caution over counterfeit cash

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind business owners in the area to check $100 bills before accepting payment.

Officials say a business in Low Moor was paid with a counterfeit bill recently.

Five Chicago men were arrested last week in Rockbridge County for distributing counterfeit money as well. Greenbrier County has also had issues with counterfeit cash.

The bills have serial number G 18518395 A. These bills can go undetected with counterfeit markers and pens.

Anyone with questions is free to call Investigator Shull at 540-965-1770.
