BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Wes Nance, the attorneys for Kevin Soto-Bonilla have requested a jury trial for a later date.

Nance says the attorneys claim to have three material witnesses that live in El Salvador, but that their VISAs and other travel documents will not be ready by the original July 23 court date.

Soto-Bonilla is charged with capital murder in the death of Raymond Wood, a 17-year-old found dead in Lynchburg in 2017.

The maximum penalty for capital murder is the death penalty.

Soto-Bonilla’s jury trial is scheduled for December 2.
