AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Wednesday, September 11 of an attempted abduction of a child that occurred back on August 3 in the 700 block of Hildebrand Church Road in Waynesboro.
The Sheriff’s Office was unaware the incident occurred until the report was filed.
The report filed mentioned a six year old child had been playing in the front yard of her home when an unknown black male attempted to lure the child into his vehicle, described as black in color with silver doors.
The man was described as wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt and having facial hair. The report also mentioned the car was also occupied by a female at the time. No further information about her description was given.
The report was delayed due to the child not disclosing details of the incident until last weekend.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office encourages parents to speak with your children about strangers and the need for them to report any encounters immediately.
