Area heroes kick off three-day Honor Flight from Bedford

BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR News) – More than a dozen Vietnam, Korea, and World War II veterans travelled to Washington, D.C. Friday to see the memorials built in their honor. It’s all part of the three-day Central and Southwest Virginia Honor Flight, a program to help celebrate area heroes and their service.

The trip started at the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, first going to Charlottesville VFW Post 1827 for lunch, a meet-and-greet with other veterans, and adding a few veterans to their numbers. Then off to the nation’s capitol.
