(WFXR) — In light of Tuesday’s tragedy in Richmond, WFXR spoke with an expert about addressing and avoiding mass tragedy.
Dr. Tod Burke is a criminologist and former police officer. He said particularly in a situation like Richmond’s shooting yesterday, there’s going to be a lot of interdepartmental collaboration.
Dr. Burke said it’s that collaboration that’s vital after a large shooting like this. He said there’s also a need for collaboration from the community to prevent these things.
“You can’t place all this on the police, somebody else may have known of a targeted attack,” he said. “We’ve said it many times in many different situations, if you see something, read something, hear something, do something.”
Law enforcement here in Virginia and all over the country are urging people to be the eyes and ears in their community and speak up before tragedy happens.
