$1.8M in funding will assist Commonwealth with Tropical Storm Michael repairs

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — FEMA has awarded $1.8M to Virginia for electrical damage caused by Tropical Storm Michael.

Electrical distribution repairs will cost the Commonwealth a total of $2.4M, the remaining balance will be processed from non-federal sources.

“This grant, funded through FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program, will reimburse communities for the actions they took in the immediate response and during the recovery of Tropical Storm Michael,” said Jeff Stern, VDEM’s State Coordinator of Emergency Management.

Virginia has received more than $5.7M from the Public Assistance Program for damage clean up.
