NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After the Nelson County Board of Supervisors gathered on Nov. 16, officials have determined to go under a burn ban.
According to the county, the board voted to adopt the emergency ordinance, effective immediately. In compliance with the ordinance starting fires in streets, alleys, and other public places and on private property is prohibited.
Nelson County says the ban will remain in place for sixty days unless readopted in conformity with the provisions of the Code of Virginia.
Officials say violating this ban is a class 2 misdemeanor.
