NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office reports a man has been taken into custody after allegedly breaking into a home with a knife in the Roseland area.
Deputies said during the early hours of Nov. 1, authorities responded to a disturbance in the 4800 block of Patrick Henry Highway. The complaint claimed that a man allegedly entered a home with a knife and demanded money from the victim.
As the investigation continued, the victim was able to identify the man as 67-year-old John Lewis Meredith.
Meredith was arrested and charged with the following:
- §18.2-47. Abduction
- §18.2-57. Assault and Battery
- §18.2-26/18.2-58. Attempted Robbery
- §18.2-91. Breaking and Entering
He is being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
Nelson County Sheriff’s Office says no one was hurt. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community.
