UPDATE: 11/11 AT 9:45 A.M. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A Lynchburg man is now facing several charges after a deadly stabbing led to a police shooting on Nov. 10.
Virginia State Police (VSP) says the incident remains under investigation; however, the suspect was identified as 43-year-old Tony L. Brown. He was charged with the following:
- One count of First-Degree Murder
- Two counts of breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony
- Two counts of violating a protective order
According to police, Brown is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized at this time.
Chirs Reed, a neighbor in the area, tells WFXR News that he woke up to the sound of a gunshot.
“Boonsboro does not get any excitement at all and it’s a good thing. It’s quiet and peaceful out here, but you know, stuff like this breaks off the peacefulness,” said Reed. “The world is not just what we want it to be.”

The officer who fired their weapon was placed under non-enforcement limited duty until the investigation is complete.

UPDATE: 11/ 10 AT 5:00 P.M. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department has released further information about the police shooting that occurred on Cheese Creek and Boonsboro Road on the morning of Friday, Nov. 10.
According to LPD, around 6:53 a.m., 911 dispatched received information that a stabbing was taking place on the 5100 block of Boonsboro Road. The responding officer arrived on the scene and allegedly witnessed a man actively stabbing a woman. The man was ordered to stop but refused to comply, forcing the officer to shoot the man with their handgun.
Officers immediately began giving aid to both the female stabbing victim, as well as the male suspect who was shot by the officer. Both individuals were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for further treatment.
Police say the female victim, identified as 42-year-old Nicole Rosser passed away from her injuries.
The male suspect has not been identified and is currently in critical condition still receiving treatment.
Additionally, LPD says there was also an additional adult woman and juvenile male on the scene during this incident who received minor injuries. They were both treated and have been released.
The Virginia State Police have been contacted to assist with the investigation. LPD says their department will also conduct an internal investigation.

UPDATE: 11/ 10 AT 9:17 A.M. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department has released new details regarding the police presence on Cheese Creek and Boonsboro Road this morning.
Police tell WFXR News that around 7 a.m. on Nov. 10, officers responded to a call of service in the 5100 block of Greensboro Road. Details are still limited; however, a police shooting occurred in the area.
Captain Joel Hinkley says authorities are still working to learn what led to the shooting, but believes this was an isolated incident. Police have confirmed there is no threat to the community.
No officers were hurt during the incident.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg Police are currently on the scene of an incident on Cheese Creek Road on Friday morning.
Details remain limited; however, there is a large police presence on Cheese Creek Road and Boonsboro Road.
