UPDATE 2/26 (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department has arrested and charged Avery Demetrie Kirby, 49, with the death of Dale M. Jones.
Kirby, a Danville resident, was charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held in the Danville City Jail with no bond.

UPDATE 2/26 5:11 P.M. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department has identified the victim of the Astoria Hotel homicide as Danville resident, Dale M. Jones.

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department says it is investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead at the Astoria Hotel on Sunday.
Officers say they responded to the 3000 Block of Riverside Drive around 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 26 where a woman was found with blunt-force trauma to her upper body.
Details about the incident are limited at this time. Police say the name of the victim will be released once the next of kin is notified.
