SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia State Police has identified the victim of the fatal hit-and-run that occurred in Duffield on Sunday, August 27th.
VSP says that 25-year-old Jacob Napier of Harlan Kentucky was traveling west on his motorcycle on the 400 block of Duff Pat Highway/Route 58 at a high rate of speed when the white Honda Accord began making a turn.
Napier braked, was thrown from the motorcycle, and then collided with the side of the Honda Accord. The Accord then pulled into the nearby gas station and turned around before fleeing the scene. Police say the two vehicles never actually made contact.
Napier was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
Both the driver and passenger front airbags of the Honda Accord deployed and were last seen driving west on Pattonsville Rd/Route 604. The driver is described as an older male of stocky build.
The vehicle had Virginia plates, was missing its passenger side mirror, and sustained significant damage to the passenger side doors and front fender.
VSP says the investigation is ongoing and they are continuing to pursue several tips and information related to the case. SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Duffield Sunday.
VSP says just before 5 p.m. Aug. 27, a driver fled the scene after colliding with a motorcycle on the 400 block of Duff Pat Highway/Route 58.
The crash threw the motorcyclist off his bike. Police say he died at the scene.
The Honda driver is said to have pulled into a nearby gas station to turn around before fleeing west on Pattonsville Rd/Route 604. VSP says the driver’s white Honda Accord is missing its passenger side mirror, has significant damage to both passenger side doors, and sustained damage to the front fender. The driver is described as a stocky older man with a beard.
