ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department says it has made an arrest in connection to the Food Lion shooting that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 4th.
According to investigators, around 8:35 p.m. on Feb. the 4th, shots were fired at the Food Lion on Peters Creek Road NW during an altercation between 28-year-old Kemonte A. Cooper and other unidentified individuals. A man and woman were injured during the incident.
The male victim was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries. The female victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Cooper was interviewed by officers shortly after the incident. Detectives worked with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and presented the case to the Roanoke City Grand Jury in March and the below charges were obtained.
On Tuesday, March 7th Cooper was arrested and charged with the following:
- Aggravated Malicious Wounding
- Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place
- Shooting in an Occupied Building
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon Without a Permit.
