UPDATE 4:33 p.m. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department has reported that one man was shot, and another man was injured in an altercation that occurred at the intersection of 11th Street and Orange Avenue NW on Tuesday, March 21st.
At 12:05 p.m. the Roanoke Police Department responded to an incident where they found a man lying in the roadway near the 11th Street address with what appeared to be serious injuries from an assault.
While still at that initial location, officers received a call regarding another man at the 1200 block of Grayson Avenue with what appeared to be a minor gunshot wound. Officers determined the man was shot during the altercation at the 11th Street address, and then attempted to drive himself away from the scene.
Roanoke Fire-EMS transported both men to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Roanoke PD say the investigation is ongoing, but believe the two men involved knew each other prior to Tuesday’s incident. WFXR News will continue to update you as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 1:23 p.m. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — WFXR reporter George Noleff shares the scene has been cleared. 11th St NW and Orange Ave NW are reopening.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Around 12:30 p.m., a large police presence was reported to be seen at the intersection of Orange Avenue NW and 11th Street NW. Crime scene tape has currently blocked off the area.
WFXR arrived on the scene as first responders were transporting person an individual to a local hospital for treatment.
WFXR reporter George Noleff spoke with witnesses who confirmed they heard gunshots. Noleff reported a dismantled rifle was laying in the roadway.
