PULASKI, Va. (WFXR)– ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals,’ better known as PETA says they are offering up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the person who left a 4-year-old chihuahua trapped in a bucket, with its paws stuck together with tape.
“The person who committed this heinous act poses a risk to the community and the link between cruelty and animals and interpersonal violence is well established,” said Gemma Caughan, Captive Animal Case Specialist.

The organization got involved after word got out about the incident. Vaughan says animal cruelty cases are being seen regularly.
“A large majority of cruelty cases that come to us involve animals that are left outside unattended,” said Vaughan.
The department says the Chihuahua is fully recovered.
If you spot any signs of animal neglect, Vaughan stresses the importance of reporting it. This is why PETA is asking for help from local residents.
Tipsters should contact Detective Rick Riddle of the Pulaski Police Department at 540-994-8609.
Police are investigating, and PETA is asking local residents to help spread the word and put up free downloadable posters (available here) in businesses and schools, on bulletin boards, and anywhere else that they’re allowed to display them in the hope that someone will recognize this dog—and know who abandoned him.”
