LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Newly released court documents reveal details from the February 2023 shooting death of a 12-year-old girl in Lynchburg.
According to court documents, the death is currently being investigated as involuntary manslaughter. On March 15, more than two weeks after the shooting, a search warrant for the DNA of a 15-year-old boy, who investigators believe may have been holding the gun before the shooting.
Records indicate that on the night of Friday the 25th, officers searched the home and allegedly seized multiple firearms.
On February 27th, after allegedly finding a video on the social media page of the victim’s mother and two others singing and dancing, while holding firearms, officers returned to the home. The video in question was allegedly posted approximately an hour before the shooting. According to that search warrant, officers said it contradicted what the mother told them.
The investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. WFXR News will continue to update you with new information as it is released.
