MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Martinsville Police Department reported having responded to an early morning shooting that occurred on Fayette Street on April 6.
Reports of the shooting came in around 4:23 a.m. on Thursday. Officers arrived on the scene at the Maplewood Apartments to find a 45-year-old woman had been shot. The unidentified woman was airlifted to a Roanoke hospital for treatment.
While investigating the incident, police arrested an unidentified man on unrelated charges. He is currently being held without bond. Investigators have been interviewing the man and processing the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.
Authorities say there is no further threat to the public at this time.
