WYHTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who was allegedly found at a high school with two fully-loaded guns on Feb. 17
Around 2:17 p.m. deputies were notified by a School Resource officer at the Fort Chiswell High School that a man, identified as 28-year-old Justin Ray Reed, was allegedly on campus with an AR15-style rifle. As a result, the school was immediately placed on lockdown, and buses were advised to avoid the area.
On the scene, officers stopped Reed on Apache Run near the Clinch Valley Community Action headstart. He was arrested and charged with the following:
- Two counts of possession of a firearm on school property (Class 6 Felony)
- Disorderly conduct (Class 1 Misdemeanor)
- Two counts of brandishing a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school to induce fear (Class 6 Felony)
The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office says they seized a Diamondback sem-automatic 5.56 riffles and a semi-automatic 9-millimeter Sig Saucer. Both of the guns were fully loaded.
Reed is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond. WFXR News will update this story as details become available.
