LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department announced an arrest in the murder of Avriel Hooks, who went missing on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
LPD detained Michael L. Perry III of Lynchburg, who was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he is being held without bond on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful disposal of a dead body.
According to the Lynchburg PD and Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, an extensive search for Avriel Hooks was conducted in Amherst County on Tuesday, Aug. 29, during which the body of a deceased person was found in a wooded area off U.S. 60 (Lexington Turnpike) in Amherst, Virginia.
