UPDATE 6:05 P.M.– After hours of being on the run, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has reported that 34-year-old Carlissto Sosa has been located and taken into custody.

UPDATE 12:25 P.M. — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was airlifted to the hospital after a shooting incident occurred in the Clover community on March 17.
Around 1 a.m. deputies received a call regarding a female at a home on Black Walnut Road reporting her ex-boyfriend, later identified as 34-year-old Carlissto Sosa, was allegedly trying to harm her.
Deputies arrived at the scene within minutes and allegedly witnessed the unidentified woman holding a baby. Sosa then allegedly pushed the woman and began shooting at her and the deputies. Officers returned fire but Sosa fled the scene on foot.
Multiple law enforcement agencies including K9 units responded to assist in an extensive search that was ultimately unsuccessful. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office believes that Sosa was picked up by someone on a nearby roadway and is considered armed and dangerous.
The deputy and the baby were not injured but, the woman was airlifted to Duke Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Investigators have issued five warrants for Sosa for the following:
- One count attempted 2nd-degree murder of the female victim
- One count attempted 2nd-degree murder of the deputy
- One count of break and enter with a deadly weapon
- Two counts of use of a firearm while attempting to commit murder

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says it is searching for a man that was allegedly involved in a shooting incident on Friday morning.
Deputies are searching for 34-year-old Carlissto Sosa, of North Chesterfield County, who investigators believed was involved in a shooting incident that occurred in the Clover community on March 17. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Details about the shooting are limited at this time.
