FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on March 28th a Franklin County jury found a man guilty for the murder of Mary Ann Cook.
The sheriff’s office says 31-year-old Dominic Thomas Novia was found guilty of the following charges:
- Second-Degree Murder
- Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Two felony counts of Shooting in an Occupied Dwelling
On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, Novia shot 70-year-old Mary Ann Cook inside her home on the 6000 block of Bethlehem Road in Boones Mill. Through investigation, Franklin County deputies learned that Novia was allegedly watching Cook inside a convenience store the day the incident happened.
On Monday, March 27th, and on Tuesday, March 28th, Franklin County Commonwealth Attorney Sandi Workman and Commonwealth Attorney Cooper Brown presented the case and evidence to a 12-member jury.
Novia is expected to appear in Franklin County Circuit Court for sentencing in July 2023.
