DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Crime Stoppers have raised the reward for an unsolved 2017 homicide.
Crime Stoppers is now offering an additional $2,500 reward for tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the killing of Tahir Mahmud.
In 2021, authorities offered a $7,500 reward for tips leading to the arrest in the investigation, but with the help of the FBI, the reward amount was increased, now making it $10,000 in total.
In 2017, Mahmud was shot and killed at the Joy Food Store in the 500 block of Riverside Drive. Through investigation, officers determined that the store was allegedly robbed by a male that was seen leaving the store around the time of the incident.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to do the following:
