HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – On August 25, after an almost two-month internal investigation, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office announced the four deputies involved in the ‘use of force’ incident at the Adult Detention Center have been fired.

On July 1, a man was taken to the adult detention center for public intoxication and refused to put on the required uniform. A situation occurred that resulted in one or more deputies using force that left the man hurt. The man was treated at a local hospital.

A press conference was held by Sheriff Davis on Friday, July 7, which started a joint investigation by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police. During which, the four deputies involved were placed on administrative leave without pay.

In a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, it has been determined that all four deputies violated multiple agency policies and “had their employment with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office terminated” on Friday, Aug. 25

The investigation is still ongoing. A special prosecutor has been assigned to the case to determine if any criminal charges will be pursued.
