Danville PD make arrest in connection to Hughes Street murder

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Danville Police Department has charged a man in connection to a homicide that occurred on May 14^th.

According to police, around 11:00 pm on Sunday, officers responded to shots fired call around the 700 block of Hughes Street to find 38-year-old Randy Lamar Womack suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Womack was then taken to SOVAH Health where he was later pronounced deceased.

Through investigation, police arrested 34- year-old Omar Rashad Chandler of Danville. He was charged with Murder in the Second Degree.

Investigators say the investigation is still ongoing and that additional charges are pending. Chandler is currently being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.
