CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After nearly a week-long investigation, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested two people after a string of larcenies occurred in the Campbell County area.

Deputies say the investigation began on May 26 when a black jeep was captured on security footage pulling off the side of Wards Road in Rustburg, in front of Phillips Equipment. The security footage allegedly shows a man and woman later identified as 38-year-old Chad Lee Reed and 33-year-old Heather Leigh Davis loading a $20,0000 valued John Deere compact utility trailer onto a trailer.

The next day, the pair was then allegedly caught on camera pushing a $22,000 valued Kubota RTV across Ward Road in Lynchburg.

As the investigation continued, the Investigations Division of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the stolen tractor from Phillips Equipment was found in Henry County, and two arrest warrants were obtained for Reed and Davis.

Davis was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Reed was arrested in Davidson County, North Carolina on unrelated charges.

On June 6, investigators with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Conway, South Carolina, where they found the John Deere tractor. Law enforcement learned Davis and Reed had allegedly fraudulently obtained two Ford Mustangs and a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, as part of the transaction involving the John Deere Tractor. 41-year-old Dayton Lee Reed, Jr., from Martinsville, was identified as a suspect in the investigation.

The two Mustangs were recovered by the Martinsville Police Department and the Harley-Davidson was found in Myrtle Beach.

Reed was charged with two counts of larceny. Davis was charged with larceny.

Deputies say Dayton Reed is wanted for Larceny.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding these investigations or suspects is asked to call Investigator L.T. Guthrie or Captain Emerson at 434-332-9580
