AMHERST, Va. 5/16/23 – 9:20 p.m. (WFXR) — The Amherst Police Department arrested a juvenile suspect on May 15 after an armed carjacking occurred at Ambriar Shopping Center on Sunday.

The juvenile is facing the following charges:

  • Carjacking
  • Use or display of a firearm in committing a felony

The Amherst Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and additional charges are pending at this time.

AMHERST, Va. (WFXR) — The Amherst Police Department is searching for a suspect in an armed carjacking at the Ambriar Shopping Center on May 14.

Around 3 p.m. on Sunday, police said a woman was near Dollar General when a man brandished a firearm and stole her car.

The man pictured in the black hoodie is the main suspect in the case. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The man wearing blue is considered to be a person of interest at this time.

The stolen car is a silver 2016 Subaru Forester with Virginia license plate ZH5909.

The suspect was last seen traveling south on Route 29 Business toward Lynchburg, according to police.
