Recipe for December 8: Eggnog bars

Eggnog Bars

Ingredients For Crust:
1/3 of a cup of sugar
½ of a cup of Homestead Creamery Salted Butter softened
1 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ of a  teaspoon of ground nutmeg

Ingredients For Filling:
½ of a cup of sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla
¾ of a cup of Homestead Creamery Eggnog
2- 8-ounce packages Troyer Cream Cheese, softened
3 eggs
1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
1/8 of a teaspoon of ground nutmeg (optional)

For Crust: Combine sugar and butter in bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy. Add flour and nutmeg; beat at low speed until well mixed. Press crust mixture onto bottom of an ungreased 13×9-inch baking pan. Bake in pre-heated oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

For Filling: Combine all filling ingredients except nutmeg in same bowl. Beat at medium speed until mixture is creamy. Scrape sides of bowl often to incorporate all ingredients.

Spread filling over hot, partially baked crust. Optional- sprinkle nutmeg on top. Continue baking around 30 minutes or until set. Cool completely. Cut into bars with a wet knife. Store in the refrigerator.
