Roanoke City officials address firework safety and legality after receiving over 100 calls to 911 from people complaining about fireworks going off in the community over the weekend. Many of those set-offs were illegal.
In the Commonwealth of Virginia, anything that explodes or moves up or down is illegal. However, sparklers and smaller fireworks that don’t go “boom” are legal.
