ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health disorder that some people develop after they experience or see a traumatic event. June is PTSD Awareness Month, and 1 in 13 Americans develop PTSD. Overall, PTSD affects around 3.5% of the U.S. population, approximately 8 million Americans, in a given year.
