Roanoke, Va. (WFXR) — The preliminary traffic fatality data for 2020 has just been released by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While many may think, “oh we didn’t drive as much” when considering the pandemic, the findings differ from what most might expect.

In fact, while Americans drove less in 2020 due to the pandemic, the year saw the largest projected number of fatalities since 2007.

Highway Traffic Safety Researcher at Virginia Tech, Charlie Klauer breaks down the research and promotes better driving habits
