Analyzing women’s soccer injuries to help maximize atheletes’ performance

Over the last five years, researchers have been trying to understand why female athletes are six times more likely to have knee injuries compared to male athletes. To help with the research, Virginia Tech’s Women Soccer Team along with researchers will monitor the players during practices and games. One of the researchers and a Virginia Tech Professor with the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise, Dr. Jay Williams shares some of the team’s observations and how the data may help prevent future injuries.
