Roanoke, Va. (WFXR) — ALCOVA Mortgage will be hosting their Park it on the Market event this weekend as well as next weekend. A big yellow school bus will be parked at the Historic Market Square. The goal is to fill the bus up with school supplies for parents and children in need.
There’s a lot of people that don’t have supplies and sometimes we take that for granted… something as simple as school supplies. I do think it’s simple enough that we can rally a lot of people behind it. It’s not complicated for people to participate.

The Alcova Mortgage team has already gotten a jump on collecting supplies and encourages anyone and everyone in the community to participate. Those interested in making a donation can simply drop supplies at the school bus on August 7th or 14th from 9 am- 4 pm or can make a drop at ALCOVA’s corporate office.
Owner of Alcova Mortgage, Bobbly Nicely says it’s great to think about others as opposed to ourselves.
“I’m a big believer of the verse love thy neighbor and I think there’s no better time than right now to be there for our neighbors. I do have two kids, a nine and a thirteen-year-old and we’re going through the same uncertainty that other parents are going through and I know it’s a challenging time. We just want to provide something to help, want to provide some school supplies, a small gesture, put a smile on somebody’s face.”
