Virginia Tech food sensory lab helps researchers read emotions

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – All it takes is a tiny facial experience to give Virginia Tech researchers the information they need to know how people feel about what they taste.

Virginia Tech’s food sensory evaluation laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced software that analyzes people’s facial expressions to see how food makes them feel.

It gives researchers an advantage in studying how foods and beverages might do in the commercial market.

Research capabilities include consumer, descriptive and discrimination research using quantitative and qualitative methods.
