Dr. Caitlin Jewitt’s recent book, The Primary Rules: Parties, Voters, and Presidential Nominations, examines presidential nominations in the United States. In the book, she argues that the political parties retain significant control over the presidential nomination process through their ability to set the electoral rules, diminishing the impact of voters.
