Salem, Va. (WFXR) — Many parents have had a tough time making the decision of sending the kids to school or keeping them home. A big positive amidst all the uncertainty is that parents in the community are in this together
The Children’s Director at Salem Church of Christ, Kirsty Foster said just like everyone else, she’s a parent looking for answers, which is why she decided to organize a homeschooling Q & A at the church.
“I’m worried about the single parents. They are trying to struggle through this, maintain a job, homeschool their kids. I’m worried about the parents of kids that have more than one child… just the number of people that are so lost and they’re struggling and we just really really wanna bring hope to those families.”Kirsty Foster, Salem Church of Christ Children’s Director
Foster thought of a great solution, inviting parents in the community who have homeschooled before to offer beneficial advice. She has composed a list of questions and she’s sure attendees will bring some of their own as well. Topics will range from the curriculum, beneficial resources, sports and activities, library programs, and much more.
The Q & A will take place Saturday, August 3rd, from 1 – 3 pm. The church will be following social distancing procedures and require all participants to bring a mask. Those uncomfortable with meeting in person may also choose to watch the event on the Salem Church of Christ Facebook page through live stream.
