Former Hilltopper and Hokie Andre Kendrick takes “It Takes A Village” to heart

Lynchburg, Va.-(WFXR) Former E.C. Glass and Virginia Tech football star Andre Kendrick gives back to the Lynchburg area youth with a special scholarship program. The “It Takes A Village” program came about when Kendrick and his son former Hilltopper and future William and Mary football player DreSean we talking about ways they can give back to the community. The Kendricks got help and raised $2500 to give out 5 $500 scholarships. The original plan was to raise enough to give out 2 $500 scholarships to a male and a female senior. Andre said the only requirement to be eligible for the scholarship is the student must be going to college. Jayla McMillan, Jaden Merriman, Alexis Ferguson, Bryson McKenna and Donnie Lavoi Cook, Junior were the winners of this years awards.
