VDH: 7,491 coronavirus cases, 231 deaths, and 1,221 hospitalizations in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported said Friday that 7,491 coronavirus cases had been confirmed, 231 had died, and 1,221 have been hospitalized since the pandemic arrived in the Commonwealth.

VDH’s current tally from Friday, April 17 includes more than 310 cases from the following areas of southwest and central Virginia:

  • Alleghany County: 4
  • Amherst County: 10
  • Appomattox County: 7
  • Bedford County: 17
  • Botetourt County: 23
  • Buena Vista: 5
  • Campbell County: 9
  • Carroll County: 3
  • Charlotte County: 8
  • Covington: 1
  • Craig County: 2
  • Danville: 22
  • Floyd County: 1
  • Franklin County: 15
  • Galax: 1
  • Giles County: 4
  • Halifax County: 7
  • Henry County: 10
  • Lexington: 3
  • Lynchburg: 38
  • Montgomery County: 40
  • Nelson County: 5
  • Pittsylvania County: 6
  • Pulaski County: 8
  • Radford: 1
  • Roanoke City: 24
  • Roanoke County: 20
  • Rockbridge County: 5
  • Salem: 6
