LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A Facebook group called the “Sewcial Hornets” is working to make face masks for students and staff at the University of Lynchburg.

Their goal: to make 10,000 masks by Aug. 1.

So far, the group has already made and delivered more than 1,000 masks. In fact, some members have sewn more than 100 masks each.

The group is committed to keeping the University of Lynchburg safe for students and staff when they return to campus. The project is spearheaded by the university’s president-elect Alison Morrison-Shetlar, who has been making masks since the pandemic began.
