Several COVID-19 testing sites established in southwest Virginia, including new site in Floyd County

(WFXR) — Health officials have established numerous COVID-19 testing sites within the areas of the New River, Southside, and West Piedmont health districts, including a new site opening Wednesday in Floyd County.

Here is a list of local coronavirus testing sites from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH):

  • Blacksburg High School, which opened Tuesday, March 31 at 3401 Bruin Lane in Blacksburg and will operate on an “as needed” basis.
    This drive-thru site requires an appointment and a letter of authorization from the New River Health District.
    For more information, call the New River Health District’s COVID-19 public health call center at (540) 267-8240. The phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, but you can leave a message after hours.
  • Floyd County High School, which will open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday April 22 at 721 Baker Street SE in Floyd.
    This drive-thru site requires an appointment and a letter of authorization from the New River Health District.
    For more information, call the New River Health District’s COVID-19 public health call center at (540) 267-8240. The phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, but you can leave a message after hours.
  • Martinsville Speedway, which opened Wednesday, April 8 at 340 Speedway Road in Ridgeway and operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. except in inclement weather.
    This drive-thru site is only open for Martinsville, Henry County, and Patrick County residents whose local physicians submit proper documentation to site. For more information about this testing site, visit the West Piedmont Health District’s Facebook page or website.
  • New River Valley Fairgrounds, which opened on Tuesday, April 14 at 5581 Fair Grounds Circle in Dublin and will operate on an “as needed” basis.
    This drive-thru site requires an appointment and a letter of authorization from the New River Health District.

  • New River Valley Mall, which opened on Monday, April 6 at 782 New River Road in Christiansburg and will operate on an “as needed” basis.
    This drive-thru site requires an appointment and a letter of authorization from the New River Health District.
    For more information, call the New River Health District’s COVID-19 public health call center at (540) 267-8240. The phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, but you can leave a message after hours.
  • Velocity Urgent Care, which operates every day from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Suite 100 at 3601 Old Halifax Road in South Boston.
    Patients are asked to call (434) 290-1225 before arriving at the facility.
