Roanoke City highlights positives amid COVID-19 pandemic

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke City leaders gathered Wednesday afternoon to discuss community efforts to repair the economy in the city, and provide information to neighbors in need.

Roanoke Mayor Sherman Lea, highlighted efforts from the during the informational address to the community. 

Area non-profit partners are receiving support for direct services, health care, child care, and where to find food and supplies.  

Several screen-printing services are donating profits from t-shirt sales to local business

That effort has raised between $25,000-30,000. 

That’s just a few of the big efforts that have been supported by the community. 

Vice Mayor Joe Cobb was second to speak on the call. 

He informed viewers, Hands On Blue Ridge is providing information for volunteers as well as supplies to help provide masks.

Executive Director Morgan Romeo, Virginia Career Works Blue Ridge was on the call as well. 

She said the Blue Ridge chapter’s website is a wonderful resource page for individuals looking for assistance.
