Radford extends ban on gatherings of more than 50 people

RADFORD Va. (WFXR) — Radford’s City Council has chosen to extend its ban on gatherings of more than 50 people.

Mayor David Horton says the decision was made based on the information health officials have gathered.

Business owners seem to be in support of the ban, one man even going further, by choosing to use even less than have of his facilities space to serve customers. It’s not a decision he says he made lightly.

“We have to make sure that we keep those numbers low, and I have a certain respect for my locals, that I really have to make sure that they stay safe,” said the owner of Cut Nice Barber Shop, Mike Williams.

Horton said if needed, the ban will be continued.

“If the need is there we will certainly evaluate, the need to extend the ordinance if that’s what works well for our community.”
