Missing the movies? A Lynchburg theater is still selling popcorn

Coronavirus

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — While we can’t go to the movies right now, a theater in Lynchburg is helping bring some of the movie-going experience to your home.

Venue Cinemas is offering drive-up concession sales on Tuesdays and Fridays for people to pick up candy, drinks, and popcorn.

“We have some regular customers that really love our popcorn,” said owner Ralph Harrison, “and every time we’re open, they’re here. So I’m sure that’s a big help for them. But I think people just want to get out and do something, and they’re looking forward to everything opening back up.”

Harrison says the demand is higher than he would have expected, and every little bit of revenue helps, but he says it’s still not enough to cover the bills during the shutdown, and he’s having to dip into his savings.
