Lynchburg schools tying ribbons around trees to honor graduating seniors

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg City school district is showing their appreciation for graduating seniors.

They are not able to hold a graduation ceremony, so they’ve been tying ribbons around trees at Lynchburg schools: blue ribbons to honor E.C. Glass graduates and orange for Heritage grads.

“To all our seniors, we’re sorry we couldn’t have our traditional graduation,” said E.C. Glass principal Jeff Garrett, “but we want you to know how much we care about you and how much we want to celebrate you.”

Later this month, seniors will be able to take cap and gown photos. In addition, the school system will stream an online graduation ceremony on May 31.
