Fifth NRV Public Health Task Force virtual town hall to focus on COVID-19, K-12 education


CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — In the second-to-last session of the New River Valley Public Health Task Force’s virtual town hall series, panelists from five school districts will discuss the COVID-19 outbreak’s impact on K-12 education.

The fifth of six online, interactive town hall will air at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 and focus on how coronavirus influences primary and secondary education. Officials say this week’s participants will represent Radford Public Schools and Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski County Public Schools.

All area residents are invited to participate in the town hall and submit questions anytime via the following methods:

  • In writing at (which can be submitted during each town hall and will be addressed as time allows)
  • Over voicemail at (540) 391-0385
  • On Twitter with the hashtag #NRVStrongerTogether

Officials say the town halls will stream live at; will be archived on YouTube, agency websites, and social media; and will rebroadcast on local cable access stations, including Comcast and Shentel Channel 190 for Christiansburg and Montgomery County and Comcast Channel 2 for Blacksburg.

The New River Valley Public Health Task Force will host its last virtual town hall on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m., featuring panelists from New River Community College, Radford University, and Virginia Tech to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on education at colleges and universities.
