ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Board of Directors of Roanoke Festival in the Park, Inc. have canceled this year’s Festival in the Park event amidst concerns of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Festival in the Park is an annual family event held at Elmwood Park in downtown Roanoke, featuring musical guests, various artists, and vendors.
Organizers released a statement, saying, “With the Festival’s scheduled event being just two short months away, sadly we feel it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel this year’s event…Not knowing the duration or magnitude of this medical situation and to ensure the safest environment for all, we will continue to implement strategies recommended by public health authorities.”
Notifications will be posted on their website and shared on social media. They encourage festival-goers to look forward to next year’s event.
WFXR is a sponsor of Festival in the Park.
