HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming two new members to the team.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the sheriff’s Office announced that the K-9 Maddy with handler Deputy Moore, and K-9 Fiona with Deputy Leath are joining the crew. Sheriff Clark says that they have been working on the process of getting additional K9s.

After completing their certifications in Greenville, NC, the two Belgian Malinois became certified as dual-purpose K9s.

K-9 Maddy and K-9 Fiona are both trained in the detection of illegal narcotics and tracking to assist in search and rescue.
