GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — A North Carolina man has been charged after a hit-and-run in Galax left a pedestrian hospitalized on Nov. 17.

According to the Galax Police Department (GPD), the incident happened around 8:26 p.m. on E. Grayson Street below the Rex Theater.

Details remain limited; however, investigators believe a pedestrian was hit by a Ford Explorer. The vehicle then fled the scene traveling West on Grayson Street toward Main Street.

The Galax Police Department says the victim was transported to a hospital in North Carolina with serious injuries.

As the investigation continued, on Nov. 18, 25-year-old Kenneth C. Mount, of Glade Valley N.C., contacted the police department.

Mount was charged with Felony Fail to Stop at an Accident Involving Injury.

Police said he will be held without bond at the New River Regional Jail until an advisement hearing in the Galax General District Court.
