ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — WFXR News continues to highlight adoptable pets at animal shelters across southwest and central Virginia during our Furry Friends segment.

On Tuesday, July 5, Mary Lou Lewis and Libby Carden with Roanoke’s Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) stopped by “Good Day Virginia” with two dogs waiting to find forever homes, ‘Steeler‘ and ‘Dewie.’

According to the RCACP, Steeler is a 9-year-old shepherd mix, but don’t be fooled by his age because he loves to play with everyone. Meanwhile, Dewie is a 5-year-old hound mix who was found as a stray in Roanoke County on June 9 and is now available for adoption.

If you are interested in adopting Steeler, Dewie, or any of the other adoptable animals at the RCACP, you can fill out an application by clicking here.

You can also visit the RCACP’s website to learn more about the shelter’s adoption process, the foster program, or volunteer opportunities.
