LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Shelters across the country and here at home in Central and Southwest Virginia are quickly filling up with animals looking for their forever homes. Furry Friends on WFXR News gives our local shelters a chance to show off their adorable adoptable pets in hopes their forever family is watching!

On Tuesday, Jan. 31st Claire LeFew from the Lynchburg Humane Society introduced us to Smiley, Tyra, and Cheerio.

Smiley is a happy-go-lucky girl that lives up to her name. She has one of the biggest smiles you’ll ever see! LaFew says Smiley is about a year and a half old and loves to snuggle and play with stuffies! “Smiley came in as a lost pet, a little underweight, and has made so much progress!,” said LewFew. “She has a great history with kids and enjoys the company of other dogs too. She is already spayed and up-to-date on her shots.”

Tyra is a glamorous lady and she might be even more beautiful than her namesake! LeFew says Tyra had a rough start to things, but after a stint in foster, she is much healthier. According to her foster, Tyra loves wand toys and lasers and is very food motivated.

If you love talkative kitties, look no further than Cheerio! LeFew says Cheerio is the shelter’s most talkative kitty who enjoys chatting up our visitors. She is just about two years old, has a small stature, and is also spayed and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations.
