ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — WFXR’s Furry Friends gives local shelters a chance to highlight adoptable pets looking for their forever homes.

On Tuesday, March 28th, Emily Witt from the Franklin County Humane Society introduced us to Mac. Mac is a year-and-a-half Bassett Hound mix and weighs around 38 lbs.
Witt says Mac is a playful and happy boy. He meets people well and has lived with other dogs. However, he does best with non-confrontational dogs. Mac is a full-on player with dogs; He can be noisy and loves to run and lightly wrestle. Witt says his ideal dog companion would be one who doesn’t take life or noisy play too seriously, a derpy goofy dog who isn’t offended easily. Witt says Mac has lived with cats and determined he was not a good match for living with cats.

Anyone interested in adopting Mac should fill out an application on the shelter’s website.
The Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption Center is currently open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, with the dog area closing at 2 p.m. However, other times can be arranged if your adoption application is approved.
