ROANOKE Va. (WFXR) — WFXR News continues to highlight adoptable pets at animal shelters across southwest and central Virginia during our ‘Furry Friends’ segment.

Emily Witt from the Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption Center stopped by “Good Day Virginia” on Tuesday, Aug. 23 with a shy but sweet puppy named Chester.

This mixed-breed pooch from Mississippi is only about four months old, but Chester has not had an easy life, so he needs someone smart and patient. He’s a little unsure at times, but loves to play with other dogs.

Anyone interested in adopting Chester should fill out an application on the shelter’s website.

The Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption Center is currently open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, with the dog area closing at 2 p.m. However, if your adoption application is approved, other times can be arranged.
